Well I have finnally decieded to call it quits on working.  This was Feburary 2008 and for the past year the time has flown by.  We have been to the Oregon coast several times and over to Montana.  This year have several trips planned.

From the last reunion several things have happened.  Lost a brother to cancer and found out that I have a leaky heart valve and no plummer to fix it. They are talking about a defibulator but will not be able to make that decision until they get the blood pressure down so trips are limited to a month at a time.

Had a nice conversation with Bill Sever yesterday and forgot to give him my new E mail address.

(I put the new email address on Jim's page .... Bill)

Sue sent along and update with address change info for Dave. He's in a new location and can take an occasional phone call. I put Sue's updates on Dave's page.

Thursday, February 12th, 2009 - news from Steve Bell.

I got a newsy update from Steve. Part of it appears below but I placed the whole offering on his page.

I am excited about the 45th reunion. As usual, much has appened. My son, Shane, age 19, is a second year journalism-art student at the University of Montana, Missoula. He has made positive decisions in his life so far. He has avoided some of the wild college years that his dad had. Last summer, he traveled on a church mission to Africa for one month and gave support to AiDS victims.

It occurred to me that I am not getting any younger, particularly when I look into the mirror and see the wrinkles and the gray hair. I expect to see that innocent teen that attended MHS. Life was different then, probably better, there were no cell phones or IPODs. What is an IPOD? We never locked our doors and left our keys in the car (See Steve's page for more detail)

Friday, February 6th, 2009 - Pat Gayman Bates Update.

Hey Bears!

I just wanted to let you all know that Newsweek now has an article referring to Moscow, Idaho! It's the Feb. 9 edition. The article is about reviving "iconic American clothing"; in other words, clothes that lumberjacks, miners or fishermen wear. The article states, "His (the designer's)..coat is nearly indistinguishable from the coats his fellow Moscow, Idaho residents have on.... but..despite the duds, he is a Harvard-trained researcher...not a grizzled Gem State native on the hunt for a new Winchester." Moscow clothing is now chic!?

Pat

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009 - Pat Gayman Bates Update.

Hot Stuff!Pat's sent along another picture of the group of five saying she thought another picture would be useful because the one she had sent earlier, 'didn't reflect the "real" us...'. Take a look at her page. I think you'll agree that, these gals are still "HOT!"

Monday, January 19th, 2009 - Pat Gayman Bates Update.

Coach was quite a fellowLooking back... to the 60s, there were several teachers that tried to guide my wondering sense of self and lack of appreciation for my classes. One was Chuck Sutton. I got the following from the Daily News.

Sunday, November 2nd, 2008 - A contact from Dave Engles.

This is Sue writing for Dave.  We are thrilled that there really is going to be a 45th reunion.  And we are going to try to be there.  Dave doesn't travel too well these days.  We are going to Albuquerque to be with his mother and stepfather for Christmas, but only because our daughter Mary is going to fly out to Portland from Massachusetts and help me take Dave on the plane.  A driving trip to Moscow will probably still be possible for the two of us without additional help.  The June 5-7 dates work well.

There have been lots of changes.  I moved to Canby in August, 2007 to be closer to the assisted living center where Dave stays.  The house in Woodburn was on the market for 15 months.  It finally sold, closing last week.  I started back to work full-time in May as the finance director of the City of Canby.  My office is a three minute walk from where I live.  Getting a job and selling the house have certainly eased the finances.

My place is a three minute drive from where Dave lives.  Living and working in Canby allows me to spend more time with him.  He needs a lot of help these days.  He's no longer able to use a computer, but I check his email everyday for him and print off anything he'd want to see.  He still reads and he loves to get email and snail mail.  He isn't able to talk on the phone very well, so I wouldn't suggest trying to call him.  We have wonderful friends who go out of their way to spend time with Dave.  They have watched the progression of his Parkinson' Disease-- over more than 17 years now--and have been there for us the whole time.

We have been blessed in other ways as well.  Our daughters have always been a joy.  Now our daughter Jenny and her husband Doug are going to make us grandparents in April!  I'm trying to control myself, but do you know that they make darling bathing suits in size 3 mos?  Jenny and Doug live in Honolulu, so the baby probably won't be wearing a lot of knitted things.

I hope everyone comes to the 45th reunion.  Times passes so quickly.  It's important to see people when you have the opportunity.

Sue

Our daughter Mary has a spirit of adventure. This picture shows what our daughter Mary was doing just before she moved to Massachusetts.  She got the opportunity to spend six weeks in Antarctica in January & February, 2007, doing research funded by NSF and administered through Scripps College.  I use this picture as my screen saver now.

Sue

Friday, September 12th, 2008 - A contact from Steve Bell.

Steve's out of Sacred Heart and now recovering at Ivy Court, a rehab facility, in Coeur d'Alene. He expects to be there for a week or two.

Life is really hard there... today he went on a lake cruise.

I'm thinking he's on the road to recovery.

Bill..

Tuesday, September 2nd, 2008 - A contact from Steve Bell.

So much for double by-pass surgery. They ended up doing four.

I called and talked with Steve this afternoon. He seems in good spirits but... the nurse is coming in later to have him sit up... and start moving around.

It didn't sound like he was looking forward to the experience but he did say that, due to some really great meds, he feels pretty good.

Sunday, August 31st, 2008 - A contact from Steve Bell.

This week I went in for some tests on my heart. On Tuesday, September 2nd at 5:00am, I will be in Sacred Heart hospital in Spokane for by-pass surgery. The tests found one artery with nearly 100% blockage and another with 80%.

No wonder I had trouble climbing a hill on my last outing with son Shane.

Sunday, July 13th, 2008 - A contact from Steve Bell.

Some of you may know that Steve has been out-of-touch for, a bit over, a year now. He's been batteling some health issues but tells me he's doing much better and living in Winchester Idaho.

Steve gave me an updated Email address (it's on his page) and will pass on some more info as time permits.

Monday, June 30th, 2008 - A Question from Phil Crossler.

It's probably a very good time to start thinking in ernest about the 45th reunion we voted on at the last gathering. Phil and Kathy have a suggestion and maybe other's would like to weigh in.

Kathy and I are open to any time next year as long as we know before the first of the year.  We are still working and need to make arrangements for the time off.

Carl's suggestion of the last weekend in June is great by us.

We are still in Everett and today is the start of "Grandparents Camp" and we have our 4 oldest grand kids for a week.  We are so looking forward to the week.  The mind may be willing but the old flesh may need a second week to recover.

It is good to hear from classmates, this next year's get together will be extra fun.

Thanks

Phil and Kathy Crossler

Friday, June 20th, 2008 - An update from George Wendt.

Well, a year after the reunion, I retired from Tacoma Power.

Couldn't wait to move to someplace warm.

Found a job with US Bureau of Reclamation as a Mechanical Engineer at Hoover Dam. I'm finally back working on Hydro Electric Equipment - designing/overhauling and solving problems. It is a lot more fun when you can tell the boss --- "I'm here because I want to be - not because I have to be!!!"

At any rate, the work is fun and we are doing new inovative things because of the prolonged drought -- upgrading the original equipment from the 1930's. Also, I'M WORKING AT HOOVER DAM!!! I HAVE DRAWINGS WITH MY NAME ON THEM!! Can you tell I like it.

I live 8 miles from Hoover in Boulder City, NV -- it is a great little town. I love the hot/warm weather -- as I write this it is 10PM and the temp outside is a cool 90-degrees at 6% humidity with a slight breeze and the doors and windows are open -- you don't know what you're missing. Plus, Vegas is 15 minutes from my house.

I'm looking forward to catching up with everyone next year and hope that if you're down this way and want a personal tour of Hoover Dam that you contact me -- "I know someone whoe works there!!"

I travel up to the northwest regularly and miss the green (not a lot) and my daughter, but, hard to beat Lake Mead, Lake Havasau, sunshine, warm and the Vegas shows.

I hope this finds you all happy and in good health --

Thanks Bill for all your efforts and Great Job on this site -- I wish some of the other classes would use this site as a "benchmatk"
